Major depressive disorder (MDD) in older adults is frequently underrecognized and undertreated, despite its profound impact on quality of life and overall health outcomes. This session will address the unique challenges of diagnosing and managing MDD in this population, including the influence of age-related biological changes and comorbid conditions. Attendees will explore the latest clinical and real-world evidence on both conventional antidepressants and emerging multimodal agents, with an emphasis on tailoring treatment to individual needs. Practical strategies for patient-centered care, including shared decision-making with patients and caregivers, will be discussed to support optimal outcomes.
