Solome Tibebu is a behavioral health strategist, community builder, and the Founder of Behavioral Health Tech, the largest community dedicated to advancing access to mental health, substance use, and intellectual and developmental disability (I/DD) services through technology, health equity, and innovation.
Previously, Tibebu was the founding fund director of The Upswing Fund for Adolescent Mental Health, a philanthropic initiative seeded by Pivotal Ventures, Melinda French Gates' personal investment and incubation company. Through the Upswing Fund, Tibebu and her team provided grants to over 100 community-based organizations nationwide, focused on supporting the mental health of LGBTQ+ teens and adolescents of color.
Solome’s commitment to building community and increasing access to mental health resources began in her adolescence. After struggling with anxiety and OCD as a teenager, she discovered that connection, shared experience, and access to knowledge were critical to healing. In 2006, at just 16 years old, she launched the “Anxiety In Teens” blog and 501(c)(3) nonprofit, one of the first online mental health resources created for teens, by teens.
Solome has also served as a senior fellow at the Meadows Mental Health Policy Institute and has been featured in Harvard Business Review case studies, Forbes, Fortune, HuffPost, Inc., Psychology Today, and more.
