This session will award 0.25 pharmacotherapeutic contact hours.

Learning Objectives:
1. Explain the patient-centric drivers of wound infection today
2. Assess levels of wound contamination in inpatient and outpatient settings to determine and implement appropriate contamination and infection management strategies.
3. Examine the emerging threat of Candida auris and evaluate strategies for its prevention, treatment, and eradication from wounds and healthcare surfaces.
4. Explain the role of antimicrobial agents, including antibiotics, antimicrobial barriers, and antimicrobial-preserved cleansers, and evaluate their appropriate use in managing wound bioburden while supporting antimicrobial stewardship.
5. Evaluate emerging technologies for slough, debris, and microbial removal, including hypochlorous acid-based cleansers and charged fiber technology and explain the relationship between effective slough removal and infection control.
