The Official Meeting of Wounds
Laura Williamson is a Board-Certified Wound, Ostomy, and Advanced Practice Nurse with a strong clinical foundation and advanced practice experience in wound, ostomy, and continence care. Her professional background spans acute inpatient care, home health, and outpatient services, providing her with a comprehensive perspective on patient management across care settings.
Laura earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and began her career in telemetry nursing. It was in the home health setting that she discovered her passion for wound and ostomy care, prompting her successful completion of the WEB WOC Nursing Education Program. She holds a Master of Science in Nursing with an Adult-Gerontology Clinical Nurse Specialist focus from Purdue University Northwest.
Currently, Laura serves as the Outpatient Ostomy Advanced Practice Nurse at the University of Chicago, where she provides specialized care and plays a key role in advancing clinical outcomes for patients with complex ostomy needs. She is also an Adjunct Faculty member at Saint Xavier University in Chicago, Illinois, where she mentors future nursing professionals.
Laura is enthusiastic about clinical excellence, patient education, and advancing the specialty through evidence-based practice and professional collaboration.
