The Official Meeting of Wounds
Dr. Natalie E. Nierenberg, MD, MPH worked as an infectious disease physician and wound care specialist at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts from 2009-2024. she graduated Cum Laude from Georgetown University in 2002, from Tulane university school of medicine and the school of tropical medicine in public health in 2006 and from University of Texas Health Sciences Center in San Antoni's internal medicine residency program in 2009. After completing a general and transplant infectious disease research and clinical fellowship and a vascular surgery apprenticeship with advanced wound care and hyperbaric medicine training at Tufts from 2009–2015, she went on to establish a hospital-wide pediatric and adult Wound Care Program integrating Infection Prevention and Control with advanced medical and surgical wound techniques to improve patient outcomes. Her work focuses on infection prevention, wound bioburden control, and the integration of evidence-based antimicrobial stewardship into wound management across acute and long-term care settings. Dr. Nierenberg also serves as a consultant to the Massachusetts Department of Public Health and is recognized for translating complex infection control science into practical, field-ready strategies that enhance safety and healing outcomes.
