James F Benenati MD an Interventional Radiologist who is currently the Chief Medical Officer at Penumbra Inc. He has served in the CMO position since 2020. As CMO he also oversees the Clinical Research Department for Penumbra. Prior to this role he practiced Interventional Radiology at the Miami Cardiac and Vascular Institute in Miami Florida for over 30 years. While in practice hew was the Director of the Fellowship Program and Medical Director of the Non Invasive Vascular Laboratory. He is a Fellow in the Society of Interventional Radiology and has served as the President , Annual Meeting Chairman and on the Executive Committee of the SIR. He has received the SIR Gold Medal and delivered the Dotter lecture fo the SIR. He served on the Vascular Division of the Intersocietal Accreditation Committee and also served as President of the Division.
His primary interests include PAD, VTE therapies. He has published overw 100 scientific articles and has spoken internationally on these topics.
Dr Benenati went to medical school at the University of South Florida; did his residency at Indiana University and fellowship at Johns Hopkins Medical School.
