60 min
Saturday, September 19, 2026
9:00 AM - 10:00 AM
As GLP-1 receptor agonists and dual incretin therapies become mainstream, psychiatrists increasingly encounter patients taking or requesting these medications alongside psychotropics that affect weight and metabolic risk. This high-yield session provides a practical, clinic-ready framework for patient selection and counseling, key evidence and indications, contraindication/precaution screening, safe titration, and common adverse effect prevention and management. Faculty will address psychiatric considerations including eating disorder risk, body image and weight-stigma harms, mood monitoring, addiction/craving implications, and access/adherence challenges. Participants will leave with strategies for care coordination and long-term follow-up, plus lifestyle essentials- nutrition guidance, strength-preserving activity targets, and apps/digital tools- to help patients succeed. The session closes with a brief look at emerging data and potential future psychiatric indications under study.
