Kate Kelley, MD, FAPA, is Chief Medical Officer at Southwest Network, where she leads psychiatric and integrated behavioral health services across Arizona. A board-certified psychiatrist with more than 16 years of clinical and physician leadership experience, she is passionate about helping clinicians deliver thoughtful, evidence-based care while improving access to high-quality behavioral health services. Throughout her career, Dr. Kelley has worked across community mental health, telepsychiatry, and national healthcare organizations to advance clinical quality and strengthen interdisciplinary collaboration. She believes exceptional patient care begins with supporting the clinicians who provide it. Dr. Kelley serves on the Board of Directors of the International Society of Reproductive Psychiatry. Her professional interests include perinatal psychiatry, psychopharmacology, psychotherapy, medical leadership, and quality improvement. She enjoys translating emerging evidence into practical strategies that help clinicians navigate complex treatment decisions and partner with patients through shared decision-making. She is a national speaker on reproductive mental health, psychopharmacology, and clinical leadership.

Perinatal Psychiatry in Practice: Balancing Mother and Fetus in Pharmacotherapy

Treating psychiatric illness during pregnancy requires balancing maternal stability and fetal safety. This session provides evidence-based guidance for medication use during pregnancy and lactation. Faculty will review dosing considerations, risk communication, and nonpharmacologic supports. Participants will gain practical frameworks to navigate complex decisions and collaborate effectively with obstetric providers.<br><br>Session developed in partnership with the International Society of Reproductive Psychiatry (ISRP).

Khyati Kothari

Khyati N. Kothari, MD, is Program Director of the Adult Psychiatry Residency Training Program and Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis. She is an outpatient psychiatrist with a focus on women’s mental health. Dr. Kothari has extensive experience in perinatal and reproductive psychiatry, with clinical and educational work focused on psychiatric disorders during pregnancy and the postpartum period, psychopharmacology in pregnancy, and women’s mental health education for trainees and interdisciplinary teams. She currently serves as Chair of Education and a member of the Board of Directors for the International Society of Reproductive Psychiatry.
