Jacob Cynamon

Dr. Cynamon is the Director of the Division of VIR at Montefiore Medical Center for the past 23 years, he is also the the DR/IR program director and the Independent IR residency program director.

Dr. Cynamon earned his medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine and completed his fellowship in Interventional Radiology at New York Hospital - Cornell Medical Center under the direction of Dr. Thomas A. Sos. Dr. Cynamon then accepted a position at Montefiore Medical Center, where he remains today.

Dr. Cynamon has written many peer reviewed papers. He described the very popular “Lyse and Wait” procedure for declotting thrombosed dialysis grafts. He also published one of the first reports of the Power Pulse Spray technique for the management of DVT. He is the lead author or contributor to over 90 peer reviewed articles, multiple book chapters and solicited reviews. He is a speaker at many international symposiums, including Interventional Radiology, Vascular Surgery, Interventional Cardiology and Nephrology meetings.

In 1992 Dr. Cynamon established a symposium, held annually in NYC. The 31st annual AIMsymposium was recentaly held in the Hilton Midtown on Nov. 13-16, 202367. Dr. Cynamon along with Dr. Frank Veith, Dr. Michael Marin, Dr. Juan Parodi and Dr. Claudio Schonholtz performed the first endovascular AAA repair in the USA. Dr. Cynamon is a Fellow of the American College of Radiology and a Fellow of the Society of Interventional Radiology.
