David Beck

Dr. Beck is an Assistant Professor in the Center for Human Genetics and Genomics, and the Department of Medicine, Division of Rheumatology at New York University Grossman School of Medicine. Prior to his joining the faculty at NYU, Dr. Beck was a postdoctoral fellow in the lab of Dr. Dan Kastner at the National Institutes of Health, where he helped in identify the role of somatic mutations in autoinflammatory diseases. He completed his B.A. from Brown University, and M.D. and Ph.D. in Biochemistry in the Medical Scientist Training Program at NYU with Dr. Danny Reinberg. He completed his Internal Medicine training at Columbia University as part of the Clinician Scientist Pathway and his Clinical Genetics fellowship at the National Institutes of Health. Dr. Beck’s research interests focus on trying to identify genetic causes of diseases in patients with rheumatic diseases, and using laboratory investigation to help provide insights for clinical care. He runs a translational program studying autoinflammatory diseases, including VEXAS syndrome, both in the clinic and in the laboratory. His work has won awards from National Institutes of Health, the Arthritis Research Foundation, Burroughs Wellcome Fund Career Award for Medical Scientist and the Henry Kunkel Society to name a few.
