Rafael J. Cortina, LMFT, MBA, MAC, CCTP-II, is a bilingual psychotherapist, educator, and international trainer with over 25 years of experience working with individuals, couples, families, and groups across the United States and Mexico. He is the developer of the Compassionate Relational Gestalt Trauma Model (CRGTM), an integrative framework that weaves together Gestalt therapy, somatic awareness, polyvagal science, relational neuroscience, and trauma-informed practice to support healing through presence, connection, and embodied awareness.
Rafael is a Certified Gestalt Therapist and Gestalt Couples Therapist, a Master Addiction Counselor, and a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional Level II. His clinical work focuses on trauma, addiction, sexuality, and relational healing, emphasizing the creative adjustments clients develop in response to disconnection and adversity. His approach centers compassion, relational attunement, and the inherent movement toward wholeness.
He offers international workshops, multi-year Gestalt training programs, and specialized courses on trauma, addiction, relational field theory, and embodied therapeutic presence. Rafael serves on the Board of the International Association for the Advancement of Gestalt Therapy (IAAGT), where he currently steps into the role of President.
Rafael maintains a private practice in San Diego and is the co-founder and CEO of In-Sight Therapy Group, offering psychotherapy, supervision, and professional development for clinicians worldwide.
