Dr. Justin Taylor is the Pap Corp Endowed Professor in Leukemia and a physician-scientist in the Division of Hematology and Department of Medicine at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. He serves as the Translational Leader for the Leukemia Group and is a full member of the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center. Before joining Sylvester in 2020, he completed his medical training at Brigham & Women’s Hospital, part of Harvard Medical School, and his hematology/oncology fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. In addition to seeing patients, he performs laboratory research and has received several awards, including the Stanley J. Glaser Award and the Schally Research Award from the Department of Medicine and the Outstanding Basic/Translational Researcher of the Year from Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center. Dr. Taylor was recently elected to the American Society of Clinical Investigation. His research focuses on understanding and overcoming resistance to targeted therapies in hematologic cancers. Recently, his group published on BTK mutations causing resistance to covalent and non-covalent BTK inhibitors and classified them based on kinase activity into kinase proficient and kinase impaired. They went on to show that both types of mutations are susceptible to BTK degrader therapies in clinical trials.
