T. J. Bishop, BS, NRP, NCEE, is a consummate EMS professional with three decades of experience in emergency medical services, military medicine, and healthcare education. He serves as the Assistant Chief of Operations and Training with San Juan Island EMS in Friday Harbor, WA. He oversees response operations for a public combination ground ambulance service serving 9 islands in rural islands, including 911, IFT, community paramedicine, and marine operations. He is also the training officer responsible for initial EMT education, recertification for Paramedics and EMTs, AHA Training Center Coordinator. He holds faculty appointments from the AHA, NAEMT, NEMSMA FTEP, Handtevy, and the University of WA/Harborview Medical Center Paramedic Training Program. His background also includes 32 years of service in the US Army, retiring as a Combat Medic Command Sergeant Major.
