Delayed sequence intubation (DSI) is a valuable tool in the pre-hospital setting and can play a vital role in ensuring a safe and effective intubation in certain clinical situations. RSI is still very much a valuable tool in EMS, however, it is important that pre-hospital providers know when to perform RSI and equally as important when not to perform RSI and consider alternative strategies like DSI. This thrilling debate will leave the pre-hospital provider with a good foundation regarding the important differences and similarities between RSI and DSI and when it may be appropriate to consider one method over the other.
