4:15 PM - 5:45 PM
Location: Flores 6-7 Session Description: Getting a person who is compromised with these co-occurring diagnoses: eating disorder, complex mental health, and substance use disorder, to treatment is very challenging. Intervention is an often misunderstood and underutilized pathway to treatment. Using clinical intervention before treatment admission by engaging family and friends to get the person help can be highly effective. Properly facilitated, this can be the start of healing for the entire family system in which trust, integrity, and values have been shattered. After the patient agrees to treatment, safe transport is a must with the complex, medically compromised patient. This session will include clinical data, a case presentation, and a simulated intervention.
