The 4th Edition of the ASAM Criteria and the Future of Addiction Care

Location: Las Brisas 1 Session Description: The ASAM Criteria is used nationally to describe the addiction treatment system of care. Since the last update in 2013, the treatment ecosystem and the payments for care have drastically changed. In order to help create an evidence-based treatment system that is both effective and efficient, ASAM doubled down on the 4th edition of The ASAM Criteria. The 4th edition was updated via a methodological approach, with over 1000 data extracted references, 120+ expert authors, a public comment period, and thousands of man hours over 2 years of development. The result is a tool that will create a common language between providers, patients, regulators, and payers. It will provide a means to quickly determine the appropriate level of care and act as the treatment planning tool all in one.
