Mood stabilizing medications are used in the treatment of a variety of different psychiatric illnesses including bipolar disorder, depression, and schizoaffective disorders. While there are a number of newer medications within this drug class, some agents such as lithium have been around since the 1940s and still have great clinical effectiveness. In this session, expert faculty will discuss available agents within this medication class, comparing mechanism of action, appropriate dosing, side effect management, and comorbid considerations.
