Carrie McGroarty PA-C, MPAS, EdD is a certified physician assistant working clinically in the WakeMed Physician Practices Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery division. She is the medical director of the WakeMed Cary Wound Center and the WakeMed Campbell PA Program clinical director. She completed her physician assistant training in 2003 at James Madison University, a Master of Physician Assistant Studies at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in 2014 and Doctor of Education in Leadership and Organizational Learning at Vanderbilt University in May 2025.

She started her clinical practice in general surgery and trauma in the Sentara Healthcare System in Virginia Beach. She has worked in cardiothoracic surgery at Duke Health and spent 15 years working with general surgery and trauma in the WakeMed Healthcare System prior to joining the plastic surgery team in August 2022.

Her current clinical responsibilities include inpatient management, operative first assist and outpatient wound clinic. She has teaching affiliations with Campbell University and Duke University Physician Assistant Programs.
