Dr Chandan K. Sen is an internationally recognized leader in regenerative medicine and wound care innovation, known for pioneering research that advances tissue repair and transforms clinical outcomes. He is the director of the McGowan Institute for Regenerative Medicine, associate vice chancellor for Life Sciences Innovation & Commercialization at the University of Pittsburgh, and chief scientific officer for wound care at UPMC. Dr Sen’s work spans novel regenerative technologies, including co-inventing tissue nanotransfection for in vivo tissue reprogramming and identifying vasculogenic fibroblasts that enhance healing. His contributions to wound science include leadership roles in the NIH Diabetic Foot Consortium and presidency in the Wound Healing Society. He holds an H-index exceeding 120, reflecting broad scientific impact. Formerly distinguished professor at Indiana University and faculty at The Ohio State University, Dr Sen’s career integrates academic leadership, translational research, and innovation aimed at improving care for chronic wounds, diabetic complications, infection management, and tissue regeneration.
