Edward S. Lee, M.D. is the Residency Program Director for Plastic Surgery at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School and an Associate Professor of Surgery. He is the Division Chief for Plastic Surgery at Rutgers NJMS and University Hospital in Newark New Jersey and the past Section Chief at the East Orange VA Medical Center. Dr. Lee grew up in New Jersey and attended The Lawrenceville School before earning his undergraduate degree from Yale University, where he double-majored in Philosophy and Molecular Biochemistry & Biophysics. He obtained his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine and completed his internship and plastic surgery residency at the University of Pittsburgh.
Dr. Lee is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and specializes in both cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. His clinical expertise focuses on oncologic reconstruction, including limb salvage and microvascular breast reconstruction. Through his leadership in residency training, he is dedicated to advancing education and innovation in plastic and reconstructive surgery. He serves on numerous committees for the Americaon Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American Association of Plastic Surgeons, and is a member of the World Society of Reconstructive Microsurgery. He has won numerous grants, written over 100 peer reviewed journal articles, and is an invited speaker nationally and internationally. His expertise in complex reconstruction and wound care is shared through his residency training program and educational efforts.
