Dr. Helena Zomer's research focus is on regenerative medicine approaches to improve skin wound healing and regeneration. Dr. Zomer's training as a veterinary doctor and molecular, developmental, and cell biologist gives her a singular set of skills and a unique research perspective. As a veterinarian scientist, Dr. Zomer follows the One Health concept, so that her research programs aim to benefit both human and animal health. Dr. Zomer's current work aims to understand the mechanisms and develop new therapeutics leading to robust skin wound healing using a novel acellular approach based on physiologically modulated mesenchymal stem/stromal cell secretomes.
