Dr. Sundeep Keswani is the Associate Surgeon-in-Chief and Clayton Endowed Chair in Surgical Research at Texas Children’s Hospital. Until recently, he served as Chief of Pediatric Surgery, overseeing nearly 7,000 operative cases and 15,000 clinic visits annually. His expertise includes fetal diagnosis and therapy, ECMO, and congenital diaphragmatic hernia. He pioneered a novel fetal surgery for gastroschisis and serves as principal investigator of an FDA-approved clinical trial.
As Surgical Director of Basic Science Research, he leads a 12,000-square-foot laboratory focused on regenerative therapies for injury, with continuous NIH funding since 2010. He has mentored more than 60 trainees, published over 160 peer-reviewed articles, and received the Michael E. DeBakey Excellence in Research Award.
He trained at LSU, St. Louis Children’s Hospital, and the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, and joined Baylor College of Medicine in 2015. He is an Executive Governor of the American College of Surgeons and past president of the Wound Healing Society.
