Dr. Shapiro is a board-certified psychiatrist from Orange County, CA. He holds an academic position at UC Irvine Medical Center, where he serves as a consultation-liaison and adult outpatient psychiatrist, provides psychopharmacology didactics for resident trainees, and is actively involved in research related to the safe deprescribing of psychiatric drugs. He is also a consultant for Outro Health and is the Director of Psychopharmacology for the UC Irvine/UC Davis Train New Trainers (TNT program) where he coaches primary care physicians, nurse practitioners, and psychiatric residents on responsible prescribing of psychiatric medications. Dr. Shapiro recently authored the "Psychopharmacology Blue Book: Outpatient Practice Companion" (Wolters Kluwer), which provides targeted guidance for psychiatric providers managing outpatients.
