Michelle Cooke

Dr. Michelle P. Cooke earned her master's degree in Psychology from Boston University and her doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology and Clinical Health Psychology from the Massachusetts School of Professional Psychology, now known as William James College. She earned her master's degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Health Care Administration and Management from Capella University.  Dr. Cooke is a licensed psychologist and licensed substance use counselor in both MA and SC. She has worked with adults across the lifespan with co-morbid mental and medical illnesses in both inpatient and outpatient settings. She also facilitated long term individual and group therapy focusing on narrative therapy, substance use disorders, medication management, anxiety, mindfulness and meditation, depression, chronic pain, grief, death and dying well. During her time in Boston, she trained and worked at the Massachusetts Department of Public Health's Lemuel Shattuck Hospital as a doctoral psychology intern, as the Suboxone Clinic Director as well as the Clinical DIrector for an inpatient program called Paving the Way. Dr. Cooke relocated to Charleston, SC in 2017. She provided behavioral health services in long term care and assisted living facilities. Over the past four years, she has worked as the Behavioral Health Medical Director of a large managed care organization to improve quality and access to care of SC Medicaid recipients. Dr. Cooke is the Diversity Division Representative of the South Carolina Psychological Association and served as President in 2021. Since September 2017, she has served on the steering committee of HMP Global.
