Dr. Priya Sehgal is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, where her primary clinical focus is on patients with Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), including Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. She is the founder and director of the Jefferson GI Program for Weight Wellness & Inflammatory Diseases, a multidisciplinary clinic dedicated to optimizing weight management to improve outcomes in IBD and other inflammatory conditions. Her research centers on the intersection of obesity and IBD, exploring how weight impacts disease progression and treatment response.
Dr. Sehgal earned her medical degree and completed her residency in internal medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City. She went on to complete a gastroenterology fellowship at Columbia University Medical Center, followed by advanced fellowship training in inflammatory bowel disease at the University of Pennsylvania. In addition to her clinical training, Dr. Sehgal holds a Master of Public Health in Health Policy from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and a Master of Science in Patient-Oriented Research from Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health, the latter while on an NIH T32 Training Grant during her GI fellowship.
