Sonya Bhaskar

Dr. Sonya Bhaskar is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology & Nutrition at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, GA, where her clinical focus is inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). She completed her gastroenterology fellowship and internal medicine residency at the University of South Florida, and earned her MD from the USF Morsani College of Medicine.

Dr. Bhaskar's research and clinical interests center on the management of moderate to severe IBD, including dual-targeted biologic therapy and complex diagnostic cases, with a growing interest in emerging technologies shaping the future of IBD care. She has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications and case reports in journals such as Crohn's & Colitis 360 and the ACG Case Reports Journal, and has presented her work at national meetings including the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG) Annual Meeting and the Advances in Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (AIBD) Annual Conference.

She previously served as an Associate Editor for the ACG Case Reports Journal, mentoring fellow peer reviewers and contributing to the journal's broader educational programming. Dr. Bhaskar is an active member of the ACG, the American Gastroenterological Association, the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, and the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation.
