Sanket Patel

Dr. Sanket Patel is the Director of Inflammatory Bowel Disease at Virtua Health and a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at Rowan-Virtua School of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his advanced IBD fellowship at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and gastroenterology fellowship at the University of Connecticut.

Dr. Patel leads a rapidly growing, comprehensive IBD center in South Jersey, where he launched the Greater Philadelphia region's first point-of-care intestinal ultrasound (IUS) program for IBD. He has expanded access to IBD clinical trials and implemented quality improvement initiatives. He has published on complex IBD phenotypes, reproductive health in IBD, therapeutic drug monitoring, and the intersection of IBD and mental health.

Dr. Patel serves on the Executive Council of the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation (Philadelphia/Delaware Valley Chapter), the IUSCAN Communications Committee, and is actively involved in education, mentorship, and patient advocacy. He is passionate about improving patient-centered care through innovation and collaboration and is deeply committed to advancing IBD care on a broader scale.

As an educator and mentor, Dr. Patel has structured IBD curricula for advanced practice providers and actively mentors medical students and trainees. His ongoing dedication to education reflects his commitment to shaping the future of IBD care.

Dr. Patel’s work continues to shape high-quality, equitable care for individuals with Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, focusing on advocacy and translational care.
