Sanket Patel

Dr. Sanket Patel is the Director of Inflammatory Bowel Disease at Virtua Health and a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at Rowan-Virtua School of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed an advanced IBD fellowship at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and his gastroenterology fellowship at the University of Connecticut.

Dr. Patel leads the Virtua Crohn’s & Colitis Center, a rapidly growing comprehensive IBD program in South Jersey. He established the region’s first point-of-care intestinal ultrasound (IUS) program for IBD and has expanded its clinical, educational, and research applications. Under his leadership, the center has expanded access to clinical trials, multidisciplinary IBD care, and quality-improvement initiatives focused on objective disease monitoring and patient-centered outcomes.

Nationally, Dr. Patel serves as Vice Chair of the iUSCAN Clinical Implementation Committee, helping advance IUS implementation, quality standards, education, and integration into clinical practice and research. He is an IBUS-certified intestinal ultrasonographer and educator and is actively involved in training physicians in IUS.

His research spans intestinal ultrasound, therapeutic drug monitoring, reproductive health, mental health, and complex IBD phenotypes. He serves on the Executive Council of the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation Philadelphia/Delaware Valley Chapter and was recognized as its 2026 Healthcare Hero.

Dr. Patel is dedicated to translating innovation into accessible, patient-centered care while advancing IBD research, education, mentorship, and advocacy.
