John Hakopyan is the CEO and Co-Founder of CodeMax, a premier medical billing company dedicated exclusively to serving substance abuse and mental health treatment providers. With nearly two decades of experience across healthcare operations, rehabilitation management, and revenue cycle strategy, John has become a respected voice in the fight to bring financial clarity and fairness to the behavioral health sector.
John’s journey began in 2006 when he made a personal commitment to help people in recovery, first by owning and operating rehabilitation centers across Southern California. Witnessing firsthand how broken and confusing the billing landscape was for treatment centers, therapists, facilities, and clinics, he set out to fix it. That vision led to the founding of CodeMax in 2018, built around a single mission: to empower behavioral health providers with transparent, compassionate, and results-driven billing solutions.
Under John’s leadership, CodeMax has grown into a trusted partner for more than 200 behavioral health providers nationwide, renowned for its proprietary technology, transparent reporting, and relentless advocacy against insurance industry inequities. His guiding principle is simple: “Patients already carry the burden of addiction—they shouldn’t leave treatment burdened by financial stress too.”
Through strategic innovation and a people-first culture, John has cultivated a company that blends operational excellence with empathy. CodeMax’s teams manage the full revenue cycle with precision and compassion, ensuring providers are properly reimbursed and patients receive the continuity of care they deserve.
Known for his forward-thinking and inclusive leadership style, John fosters a culture grounded in accountability, integrity, teamwork, and continuous growth. His vision for CodeMax extends beyond billing, it’s about transforming how behavioral health professionals sustain their mission to heal.
