Jaime Salai, NRP, is a paramedic in Indiana and has served as a Field Training Officer since August 2022. She cultivates a structured field training environment focused on preparing future providers for every aspect of their role, including patient care, provider wellness, and professional accountability. Her work bridges classroom knowledge with real-world performance, equipping new clinicians with sound judgment, confidence, and operational readiness. Jaime is committed to building training systems that develop not only competent paramedics, but resilient and accountable leaders in the field.

In addition to her clinical leadership, Jaime is a pageant titleholder who uses her platform to advocate for mental health care accessibility and affordability for first responders, advancing a stronger and more supported EMS workforce.

Beyond the Classroom: A Field Training Framework

Field training bridges classroom knowledge with real-world application. This presentation examines the characteristics of an effective field training officer, the key categories of field training education and the strategies for teaching each category to different adult learning styles. It also explores effective evaluation practices and approaches for navigating difficult situations as a field training officer.
