30+ years of experience Military, LE and Paramedic with current certifications through NREMT and State of Alabama. IBSC certified as Tactical Paramedic. Instructor at Gadsden State Community College teaching the AEMT, Tactical Paramedic and Critical Care courses. Extensive travel experience worldwide both working and associated with Medical Missions. Numerous Instructor Certifications as well as Associates Degree in EMS from GSCC and a Bachelor’s Degree in EMS from the University of South Alabama. Prior training and certification with Critical Incident Stress Management certifying in Assisting Individuals in Crisis (ICISF), Emotional Trauma Life Support (ETLS) and Alabama Law Enforcement Alliance for Peer Support ( ALLEAPS ). Serves as the State Coordinator, North Alabama for ALLEAPS. Enrolled at the University of South Alabama studying Masters in Public Administration with a Healthcare Concentration.

First responders are continually exposed to various stressors on an almost daily basis, and these stressors affect not only their personal lives but can impact their professional lives and determine the longevity of performance. We will look at the peer reviewed research I conducted as part of my masters research program and look at the factors that cause EMS providers to leave the workplace. We will identify the stressors that cause job dissatisfaction and ultimately cause providers to seek other means of employment. By addressing these issues, understanding the causes and having the ability to counter the short- and long-term effect, we can make a better workplace for our providers and insure a more stable workforce. We will also look at means to counter these noted stressors.
