Many educators in EMS find themselves quietly wrestling with a nagging internal question: Why me? Despite years of field experience, instructional training, and a genuine commitment to shaping the next generation of providers, moments of doubt still find a way in. Whether it’s the pressure to stay current, the responsibility of preparing students for high-stakes decisions, or the fear of not being “enough” in front of a classroom, these thoughts can undermine even the most seasoned instructor.

This session creates a supportive space to talk openly about the realities of self-doubt in EMS education. Participants will explore why these feelings emerge, how they affect teaching quality and professional growth, and how common they actually are in our field. The session will introduce practical, evidence-informed strategies to recognize and manage imposter syndrome, rebuild confidence, and strengthen instructional presence. Through guided discussion, reflective exercises, and shared experiences, attendees will leave with tools to reframe negative self-talk, enhance resilience, and reconnect with the purpose that brought them into education in the first place. EMS instruction is demanding work, but no one has to navigate that internal battle alone.
