Mike Hilliard started working EMS full-time in 1979 in the back of vans, Suburbans, and Cadillac ambulances. After becoming a paramedic, Mike worked in Maine in an area so rural the agency was called Rural EMS. In 1993, Mike moved to Florida and later in 2005 became an ICS Train-the-Trainer and mentor. Mike Hilliard is an active practitioner and presenter on issues relating to instructional design and delivery, incident command systems, as well as in emergency management. He is an All-Hazards Incident Management Team, type III, train-the-trainer, he has his Master Exercise Practitioner (MEP) certification, as has numerous activations as a Planning Section Chief during large-scale activations. Activations have included hurricanes, support for strike teams, and numerous multiple day large scale events and incidents. Mike loves working at Valencia College.
