Transforming Relationships: The Nuts and Bolts of Relational Life Therapy

Session Description: Relational Life Therapy (RLT) is a radical approach known for producing profound, permanent change quickly in individuals and couples. RLT therapists offer clients a new vision - how to think ecologically, relationally, about themselves in the world- and a practical toolbox to live it. When possible, we use our clients’ current relationships as the crucible in which to teach them how to connect to themselves and each other with a richness and skill that goes far beyond the norms of our culture.
Workshop participants will learn the three phases of the process:
⁃ 1- Waking Up Our Clients: Through deeply empathetic and precise feedback we ally with our clients’ best selves.
⁃ 2- Relational Trauma Work
⁃ Once we’ve articulated the repetitive “stance” each partner brings, we move back into childhood experience, doing deep trauma work in the presence of the partner.
⁃ 3 - Teaching Relational Skills: Confrontation makes the implicit explicit, opening up neural pathways. Trauma work decreases flooding, strengthening the client’s Wise Adult part. Now, we teach: - how to assert and stay loving, for example, the art of repair - offering a practical relational technology.
