3:45 PM - 4:45 PM
There are 19,482 public airports in the United States, and 14,336 private airports, heliports, and landing strips. Small planes often crash in neighborhoods not far from one of these airports. These types of crashes are considered high risk, low frequency, so training, planning, and practice can make a difference between a successful or unsuccessful outcome for passengers and civilians on the ground. Attendees will learn how to safely respond, perform rescue, and move patients to safety and triage. We will discuss incident command, triage, patient care, treatment, and transport. We will review small plane crash data, review case scenarios, and learn about small airplanes, common causes of crashes, responder safety, safety on scene, and preserving evidence at fatal crashes.
