The heel is the second most common body site for pressure injury development. Moreover, the lower limb heel injuries also have concomitant factors like DM type 2 Diabetes, peripheral arterial disease, neuropathy, and edema, which make the heel more vulnerable for some patients compared to other body sites. The heel has specific characteristics which need to be considered carefully for pressure injury prevention and care. This session will share tips on how to effectively implement offloading strategies for lower extremity pressure injuries as well as the selection and proper use of offloading devices.
