Venous leg ulcers (VLUs) are a frequent chronic condition that present high financial burden to healthcare systems, are accompanied by multiple complications, and are oftentimes painful and debilitating to the patient. Compression therapy is the mainstay of treatment in VLU, but adequate compression does not always result in timely ulcer closure. Once comorbid and underlying venous pathology have been investigated and managed, advanced modalities can contribute to more efficient ulcer closure. Modalities such as Cellular, Acellular, and Matrix-Like Products (CAMPs) and other emerging topical and endovenous therapies are of paramount importance.
