Location: International Ballroom A-D OMNI - For many, a courtroom can feel like the end of the story. But in Eastern Kentucky, walking into a courtroom can provide individuals with the opportunity to start a new chapter. Here, community stakeholders are collaborating to improve outcomes for justice-involved individuals impacted by substance use and other behavioral health conditions. This model has proven successful in connecting one of our most vulnerable populations with the evidence-based treatment, clinical care, and comprehensive services they need to lead healthier lives and recover from substance use disorders.

In this session, participants will hear from some of the individuals behind this collaboration and learn the steps to take to bring these successful programs and initiatives to their own communities. Presenters will incorporate data at both the national and state levels. The session will be relevant to anyone working with or in support of justice-involved individuals―particularly those who are looking for ways to better bridge the gap between substance use disorder and behavioral health providers and the court system.
