Treatment-Resistant Depression or Monoamine-Resistant Depression: Reconsidering Paradigms in Difficult-to-Treat Depression

60 min
Saturday, March 23, 2024
10:10 AM - 11:10 AM
In this session, our faculty will explore the complexities of treatment-resistant depression (TRD), shedding light on the limitations of traditional monoaminergic therapies and the promise of alternative treatment options to provide relief. Participants will delve into the neurobiology of depression, examining the role of glutamate and the potential of non-monoaminergic treatments. FDA-approved therapies for TRD will be analyzed alongside neuromodulatory techniques like transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) and electroconvulsive therapy (ECT). Through interactive case studies and expert insights, attendees will gain a comprehensive understanding of TRD management, including safety/efficacy considerations and the evolving paradigm shift in difficult-to-treat depression. This session is supported by an educational grant from Janssen Scientific Affairs, LLC.
