Intended Learners

The Amputation Prevention Symposium (AMP) is designed for interventional cardiologists, vascular surgeons, interventional radiologists, wound care specialists, podiatrists, nurses, vascular technologists, and cardiovascular catheterization laboratory team members.

Learning Objectives

After attending AMP, participants should be able to:

  • Apply a comprehensive, multidisciplinary best practice approach for patients with advanced peripheral arterial disease (PAD) and critical limb ischemia (CLI) at risk for major amputation.
  • Describe the magnitude of CLI and amputation and efforts necessary to decrease unnecessary amputations in at-risk populations.
  • Describe decision algorithm for treatment decision for patient with CLI to include endovascular, surgical, and hybrid options.
  • Describe the role of atherectomy in CLI and its application in amputation prevention.
  • Treat complex chronic total occlusions in tibial and pedal arterial vessels in the patient with CLI.
  • Describe arterial angiosome anatomy in conjunction with cutaneous and ultrasonic angiosome mapping in patients with advanced tibio-pedal arterial disease who are at risk for major amputation.
  • Implement procedural and technological advances in wound care practices for patients facing major amputation due to advanced PAD, advanced non-healing wounds, and gangrene.
  • Identify the components necessary to build a multidisciplinary amputation-prevention program.
  • Implement a diagnostic algorithm which includes selective angiography as a critical step for patients with CLI who are at risk for amputation.
  • Incorporate advanced tibiopedal access in combination with antegrade access in limb salvage procedures.
  • Describe tips and tricks for safe and effective surgical and endovascular treatment of CLI from access to closure.
  • Describe unique considerations when evaluating the diabetic foot ulcer in the setting of CLI.
  • Describe modern core wound principals for the CLI practitioner.
  • Describe currently available drug eluting technology for the treatment of above-the-knee and below-the-knee lesions in the patient with CLI.
  • Describe current wire, catheter, balloon, crossing, atherectomy, re-entry, and closure devices available for treatment of CLI, and describe mechanism of action and when most appropriate to utilize.

Physician Assistants

AAPAHMP Education has been authorized by the American Academy of PAs (AAPA) to award AAPA Category 1 CME credit for activities planned in accordance with the AAPA CME Criteria. This live activity is designated for 19.5 AAPA Category 1 credits. PAs should claim only credit commensurate with the extent of their participation.

Each additional CME Live Case Symposium live activity is designated for 3 AAPA Category 1 credits.

Nurses

This continuing nursing education live activity awards 19.5 contact hours.  
Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider #13255 for 19.5 contact hours.  

Each additional CME Live Case Symposium live activity awards 1 contact hour.

Nurse Practitioners

American Academy of Nurse Practitioners National Certification Program accepts AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ from organizations accredited by the ACCME.

Podiatrists

This live activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the standards and requirements for approval of providers of continuing education in podiatric medicine by HMP Education. HMP Education is approved by the Council on Podiatric Medical Education as a provider of continuing education in podiatric medicine. HMP Education has approved this activity for continuing education contact hours.

HMP Education has approved 3 credits for each additional CME Live Case Symposium live activity.

Requirements for Credit

To be eligible for documentation of credit for each session attended, participants must participate in the full activity and complete the online general survey and the online evaluation form for each session by October 17, 2024.

Participants are not eligible to receive credit for any part of the enduring activity already claimed as part of the live event.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellation requests for AMP 2024 must be received in writing by emailing registration@hmpglobal.com or postmarked by July 17, 2024. A cancellation fee of $100.00 (or full registration amount, whichever is less) will be deducted from the refund.    

Registrants wishing to cancel may instead transfer their registration to someone else without penalty if they send a written request with the replacement person’s name by August 13, 2024.

Cancellations received after  August 14, 2024 will not be refunded or provided a voucher. If you do not cancel in advance, no refunds will be issued once the event has concluded, regardless of whether you participated in the event.

Credit vouchers may be offered should program be suspended or shortened due to conditions or circumstances beyond HMP Global’s control, including but not limited to interruptions in internet services, power outages, and any cancellations/modifications related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
