Associate Professor Sharon Latimer is a Registered Nurse with more than 25 years of clinical experience in medicine, gerontology, rehabilitation, and dermatology. She is a Principal Research Fellow within the NHMRC Centre of Research Excellence in Wiser Wound Care and the School of Nursing and Midwifery at Griffith University. In 2016, she completed her PhD on patient participation in pressure injury prevention. Sharon is internationally recognised for her research on end-of-life wounds and, in 2023, developed an assessment tool for wounds that occur in some people during the dying process. She has authored more than 70 peer-reviewed publications, and her research has informed Australian and international clinical practice guidelines and standards, including the International Prevention and Treatment of Pressure Injuries Clinical Practice Guideline, the 2022 Aged Care Quality Standards, and the Aged Care Clinical Standards.
