Stavros Stavrakis
MD, PhD

Dr. Stavrakis is a clinical electrophysiologist and physician scientist at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. He received his MD and PhD degrees from the University of Athens. He is an Associate Professor of Medicine and the Director of Cardiovascular Research. His research has focused on autonomic modulation for the treatment of arrhythmias, in both animal models and in humans. His work over the last 12 years culminated in a first-in-human randomized clinical trial, examining the chronic effect of noninvasive vagus nerve stimulation in patients with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation. His current, NIH-funded work includes optimization of patient selection and stimulation parameters for autonomic modulation techniques.
