Residents/Fellows Scholarship

Western Atrial Fibrillation Symposium (Western AFib) looks forward to granting scholarships to residents and fellows enrolled in accredited electrophysiology fellowship programs in February 2024. 

Western Atrial Fibrillation Symposium will also be collecting abstracts to be considered for a Fellows Research Competition. If you would like more information on this competition please click here.

Scholarship will include:

  • Complimentary tuition* for all days of the Western AFib 2024 program taking place February 22 - 24, 2024.  The Fellows Competition will be held on Thursday, February 22, 2024 and is a required event for scholarship recipients to attend.  
  • Travel stipend of $800 to be used toward travel expenses incurred to attend the conference. This stipend will be distributed 2 weeks after the conference pending completion of all required tasks.

Eligibility

  • Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited electrophysiology fellowship program at the time of the conference (February 2024).
  • Applicants must complete the application, including agreement to the requirements and the following document uploads:
    • Submit a signed letter on letterhead from your program director confirming your status as a current resident or fellow in February 2024.
    • Submit a completed W9 form (US applicants) or a completed wire transfer form (International applicants)

Terms of Acceptance

Attend sessions in full

Acceptance of this scholarship requires the awardee to attend all sessions of the conference, in full, including additional sessions designated specifically for residents and fellows.  The conference begins on Thursday, February 22 at 2 PM and ends Saturday, February 24 at 7 PM.  Please plan your schedule accordingly. 

Session Sign-in

Designated sessions will require sign-in in order to receive your scholarship payment. The list of sessions requiring sign-in will be posted on this page on our website as soon as it is available. Please check back often for updates. Failure to attend required sessions in full at the conference will cause your scholarship payment to be at risk of forfeit.

Registration

Scholarship recipients are required to register to attend the meeting using the steps and information provided in the acceptance email within two weeks of receiving the acceptance email. Failure to register to attend the meeting within this timeframe will cause your scholarship to be forfeited.

Payment Information

Scholarship recipients are required to submit a completed W9 form and the forms required for direct deposit (US applicants) or a completed wire transfer form (international applicants) to Liz Minor at lminor@hmpglobal.com by Monday, January 22, 2024.

Travel Information

Scholarship recipients are also required to submit a copy of a final travel itinerary including flight information to Liz Minor at lminor@hmpglobal.com by Monday, January 22, 2024 or the scholarship will be at risk of forfeit.

Post Conference Survey

Scholarship recipients are required to complete a post conference survey that will be sent via email at the conclusion of the conference. This survey needs to be completed by Monday, March 11, 2024 (within 2 weeks of the conference). Failure to complete this survey will cause your scholarship payment to be at risk of forfeit.

Important Dates and Information

Applications will continue to be accepted until all spots are filled. A waitlist will also be started. Please see below for approximate notification timelines.

  • Week of November 6, 2023: Applicants will be notified via email of acceptance on a rolling basis. Waitlisted applicants will be notified as well.
  • Within 2 weeks of Email Acceptance: Registration Deadline–If you have been accepted for a scholarship and have not registered for the conference within two weeks of receiving your acceptance email, your scholarship will be forfeited and offered to someone on the waitlist.
  • January 22, 2024: Payment Information Deadline - submit your completed W9 form and direct deposit information (US applicants) or your completed wire transfer form (International applicants) by this date.
  • January 22, 2024: Registration Cancellation Deadline – Cancellation requests must be received no later than January 22, 2024. Please email your cancellation request to Liz Minor at lminor@hmpglobal.com
  • January 22, 2024: Travel Information Deadline – submit your travel itinerary to Liz Minor at lminor@hmpglobal.com by this date.
  • February 22 – 24, 2024: Attend Western AFib in Park City, Utah. Attend sessions in full and sign-in to designated sessions at the conference.
  • March 11, 2024: Deadline to complete the post conference survey

Cancellations

Scholarships are limited. If you are unable to attend, please notify me immediately so we can extend your complimentary registration to another person on the waiting list. Please email Liz Minor at lminor@hmpglobal.com. Cancellations are requested by Monday, January 22, 2024

No Shows

Failure to send cancellation request or attend the meeting in full will result in ineligibility for future scholarships opportunities at HMP Global conferences, which include but are not limited to the International Symposium on Endovascular Therapy (ISET), Clinical Symposium on Interventional Oncology (CIO), Western Atrial Fibrillation Symposium (Western AFib), and the Amputation Prevention Symposium (AMP).

Support

The travel stipend for residents and fellows may be subsidized by educational grants from Industry. More information to follow on supporting organizations.
