Eugene Kholmovski
PhD

Dr. Eugene Kholmovski is an Associate Research Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Johns Hopkins University. He received his PhD in Physics with specialization in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) from the University of Utah in 2002. Dr. Kholmovski is a Fellow of Society for Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (SCMR). Dr. Kholmovski has specialized in the development of pulse sequences and image reconstruction techniques for cardiovascular and interventional MRI. He was the first researcher to develop and validate an imaging technique for non-invasive evaluation of atrial fibrotic remodeling and to demonstrate feasibility of real-time MRI-guided cardiac Cryo-ablation. Dr. Kholmovski is the principal MRI physicist for two of the largest multi-center clinical studies utilizing cardiac MRI to improve clinical outcome for ablation treatment of atrial fibrillation (AF) – DECAAF and DECAAF II. His research has resulted in more than 107 peer-reviewed publications in journals such as JAMA, Circulation, JACC, over 290 conference publications, and 12 patents.
