Dr. Michel Abou Khalil is a clinical research fellow at the Tulane Research Innovation for Arrhythmia Discovery (TRIAD), Tulane University School of Medicine, New Orleans. He received his medical degree from Saint Joseph University in Beirut.
Dr. Abou Khalil’s work is primarily focused on preclinical and translational research, with significant involvement in large-animal models of atrial fibrillation and atrial myopathy. His research explores atrial remodeling, fibrosis, lesion formation, and rhythm-control strategies using advanced ablation technologies, including pulsed field ablation. He is actively involved in the design and execution of animal studies integrating electrophysiologic mapping, intracardiac imaging, and longitudinal outcome assessment.
In parallel, Dr. Abou Khalil contributes to multiple projects in digital health and artificial intelligence, leveraging wearable devices, continuous physiologic monitoring, and large real-world datasets to improve risk stratification and personalize management of atrial fibrillation and heart failure. His interests include AI-enabled ECG analysis, remote monitoring, and the integration of multimodal data to predict clinical outcomes.
Dr. Abou Khalil has authored and co-authored abstracts and manuscripts presented at major national and international cardiology and electrophysiology meetings. His work aims to bridge animal models, digital innovation, and clinical research to advance precision rhythm-control strategies and improve long-term patient outcomes.
