Dr. Liu is currently Associate Professor of Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College and the Medical Director of Cardiac Electrophysiology Services for the New York-Presbyterian - Weill Cornell Network. He also leads the Complex Arrhythmia Ablation and Structural Heart Electrophysiology programs at Weill Cornell Medicine.
Dr. Liu was born in southern China and raised in New York City. After training in EP Fellowship at UPenn, Dr. Liu joined the faculty at Weill Cornell in 2008, where he has led successful programs in epicardial VT ablation, Lariat device closure of the left atrial appendage, cryo-balloon ablation for atrial fibrillation, Watchman and Amulet device closure of the left atrial appendage, physiologic conduction system pacing, and most recently pulsed-field ablation (PFA) for atrial fibrillation. Dr. Liu is a Fellow of the Heart Rhythm Society and the American College of Cardiology. He has dedicated increasing time to volunteer duties at the Heart Rhythm Society, with 3 years on the Reimbursement and Regulatory Affairs Subcommittee (including 1 year as Chair), followed by 3 years as Chair of Health Policy and Regulatory Affairs - where he led interactions between the EP community and the FDA, CMS, and other regulatory agencies, advocating for optimal patient access to arrhythmia care by EP experts. Dr. Liu continues to serve as HRS Advisor to the CPT Panel since 2022, and is part of the HRS Safety Alert Rapid Response Team - crafting recommendations for medical device advisories. Dr. Liu has started a 3-year term on the HRS Board of Trustees.
