Sara Carter currently serves President Trump and the American people as Director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy, leading the Administration’s efforts to combat the trafficking of illicit drugs and strengthen public health and safety. She leads the implementation of the President’s National Drug Control Strategy, working with federal, state, local, and tribal leaders to keep dangerous drugs out of American communities. As our nation’s Drug Czar, she is dedicated to serving the American people and protecting families across the country.

She was a Fox News Contributor and wrote for saraacarter.com. She previously worked for Sinclair News group, Los Angeles News Group, The Blaze, The Washington Times, The Washington Examiner, and wrote numerous exclusives for U.S.A. Today, U.S. News & World Report, and Arutz Sheva in Israel. She was the host of the Sara Carter Show podcast. Carter’s reporting included front line coverage of the Afghanistan, Iraq wars and the ongoing war on terrorism. Her investigations on the U.S. Mexico border uncovered secret tunnels, narcotics trafficking routes and the involvement of Mexican federal officials in the drug trade. Carter received two National Headliner Awards as well as the Society of Professional Journalists Sigma Delta Chi award for her multiple-part series that uncovered the brutality of cartel wars along the Mexican border.

She wrote investigative columns at Foxnews.com. She also wrote, produced and appeared in an award-winning documentary in 2018, "Not In Vein," investigating the growing opioid and fentanyl crisis in the United States. Carter's mother is a Cuban immigrant and her father was a Marine veteran of two wars. She has six children and is married to her war-hero husband, blinded while on a mission fighting terrorists in Afghanistan for the Department of War.
