David Stewart

Since 2016, David has been the Health Insurance Program Director at AHEC West. Which is the Connector Entity (navigator program) for Western Maryland. David Stewart has been an Affordable Care Act navigator since the first Open Enrollment in 2013. Prior to AHEC West, David was the Project Director for the Rural Action Enrollment Network (RAEN) which studied Affordable Care Act implementation in Western Maryland including nearby Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

The AHEC West Health Insurance Program opened the Possibility Shop in July 2022. The Possibility Shop is designed to connect Maryland residents most affected by social determinants of health with resources to help improve their lives. These services include food, clothing, health insurance, housing, harm reduction and social service navigation.

David was recognized in 2020 as Outstanding Rural Health Advocate by the Maryland Rural Health Association.
