Congresswoman Mary Bono, a successful businesswoman and political leader, was hailed as the “embodiment of powerful American womanhood” by the Washington Times. Elected to Congress in 1998 to serve California’s 44th District, she served 7 terms and was a leader on various critical issues. Mary was a member of the Energy and Commerce, Armed Services, Judiciary, and Small Business Committees. A bipartisan consensus builder, she authored legislation signed into law by three Presidents.
Mary is recognized as a national leader on multiple issues, including addiction prevention, treatment, and recovery. In Congress, she co-created the first Prescription Drug Abuse Caucus and chaired opioid abuse hearings. She continues to combat drug abuse and the fentanyl epidemic as Chair of the Board of Mothers Against Prescription Drug Abuse (MAPDA).
In 2022, she received the Distinguished Graduate Merit Award from the University of Southern California.
