Jennifer Tourville is a TN native, born and raised in Sevierville, where she still resides. She holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree, as well as a Master of Science in Nursing degree specializing in pediatrics from Vanderbilt University. She also received a post-graduate certificate in Health Policy from University of Tennessee Knoxville and is currently pursuing her Master of Business Administration from UT Knoxville.
Dr. Tourville’s scholarship and work is related to substance use prevention, treatment, and recovery. In her previous role at UT, she taught various undergraduate courses and mentored student projects related to substance use. She currently serves as the Executive Director of the UT Institute for Public Service SMART Initiative where she leads a team of public health experts across the state that provides technical assistance to local government for the management and spending of their opioid settlement funds. Her team also leads and serves on several substance use grants projects across the state.
Dr. Tourville serves on various community task forces and boards and still practices part-time, working with newborns as a pediatric nurse practitioner.
