Bridget G. Brennan was appointed New York City’s Special Narcotics in 1998, the first woman in the position. The office, with 200 legal and support personnel, employs a multifaceted approach to save lives and support communities through drug prosecutions It is inationally recognized for expertise in prosecuting sophisticated drug idistribution networks, and views supportive programs for defendants as tools for rebuilding lives and communities devestated by drugs. Special Narcotics was one of the nation's first prosecutors' office to develop an alternative to incarceration program. Under Ms. Brennan’s leadership, the office has developed targeted investigative strategies to tackle each phase of the overdose crisis. Every approach has been consistent with the office commitment to fairness, integrity and proffessionalism.

Ms. Brennan joined the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office as an Assistant District Attorney in1983. She handled hundreds of cases, was a designated homicide and sex crimes prosecutor, and supervisor in a white collar crime unit. She joined Special Narcotics Prosecutor’s Office in 1992 as Chief of the Special Investigations Bureau, overseeing the most significant narcotics investigations in the country,and named Chief Assistant in 1995. Three years later, the five elected New York City District Attorneys appointed Ms Brennan to head the office.

Before her legal career, she was a print, radio and television reporter in her native Wisconsin. Ms. Brennan holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from the University of Wisconsin, and obtained her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 1983.
